I just finished a group 8-day detox program with Julie and I want to compliment her in so many ways for the program. First, the results – I was able to get off coffee (a minor miracle), lose some weight and re-setting and cleansing my body after the holidays.

Julie built in so much that contributed to success – group meetings at the beginning and end of the program, a few nutritional supplements to support our bodies through the change in eating, a closed Facebook group where we shared the ups and downs, great recipes (honest!) and most of all, an emphasis on mindset. I did a cleanse with Julie and with amazing results. I’m a sugar fiend and it really kicked my habit! Even 6 months later, I haven’t had any urges for sugar and even when I do have it, it doesn’t have this obsessive hold on me like it used to. These days you have to be your own advocate for health care. It’s nice to not have to shop blindly through nutritional supplements and not know what to do (and what not to do). Having someone to guide me is a real help. Julie knows what she is doing and is very personable.  My only complaint is that my first two hour visit seem inefficient.  I felt like I was there for a long time without getting a lot done BUT I have been feeling amazing since following her plan so I can’t complain too much.

Julie offered me a free nutrition evaluation when she was still in training.  She met with me a few times, and gathered information via a survey about my lifestyle, exercise patterns, and eating habits.  She then came back with some concrete recommendations, many of which I’ve incorporated into my daily routine.  She also gave me a few recipes, which I really appreciated.  All in all, I was impressed by her  knowledge and ability to make recommendations that were achievable.  I would recommend her to others that are looking to make a change in their eating habits.

I did Julie’s ‘cleanse’ a few weeks ago, here’s what it did for me: 

1) It showed me that it was the glass of wine or two in the evening that was responsible for my nightly hot flashes. I’m not giving up alcohol, but at least I know I could get rid of the hot flashes if they become too bothersome.
2) After a week of ultra-clean eating my sense of taste became so sensitive that I was able to taste some of the additives in processed foods that I hadn’t noticed before.
3) Even weeks later I still have a diminished craving for sugar and just less hunger over-all, which is helping me skip desserts, sodas, & chips. I also find that I’m eating a bit less than usual at mealtime.
4) So far I’ve been able to keep off the weight that I lost during the cleanse, and weighing 5 lbs less feels significantly better than I ever imagined it would!
Julie is very competent, responsive, and high-energy and I enjoyed working with her!

Julie is a fantastic partner and natural healer. I went to Julie for a variety of issues –  mostly that I couldn’t eat anything – abdominal pain, weight loss, fatigue – after not getting anywhere with the medical doctors. We tried a lot of different things, and it will take both time and patience,  but she’s a wonderful listener and partner in my journey towards healing! Be warned – she can be a bit nonlinear in her approach – which was hard for me as I’m very linear and logical – but if you are patient and open-minded you will be filled with wisdom and encouragement and healing. If you are looking to shed 15 to 50+ pounds and learn a healthy lifestyle that will help you after you have achieved your goal… go to Julie Scott! She doesn’t throw frozen food or protein shakes at you, she works with you, your schedule and your current diet with minor tweaks. My favorite part about her is that she says “if you want a brownie, have a brownie, but you know your truth”. There are no restrictions! I gained ten pounds in my thirties that I could not get off, despite about a million diets. I started going to Julie about four weeks ago and the results have been nothing short of amazing. I was immediately impressed when I had the opportunity to hear Julie speak about nutrition.  I have never met someone so passionate and knowledgeable about the benefits of proper nutrition. I found Julie after I read an article in the local paper: the Los Altos Town Crier and am soo glad I decided to pay her a first visit, that culminated in many more. Julie is the perfect nutritionist for someone like me who understands that my relationship to food (and my overall health) has a lot to do with my relationship to myself. Not only is she very knowledgeable about food and nutrition, she is also empathetic and wise. She sees beyond the superficial problem of excess weight or fatigue to the unconscious patterns and bad habits that led you there to begin with, and she can help you address both the origin of those belief/behavior systems and their subsequent symptoms. I appreciate how she provides “life coaching” tips and affirmations as part of my plan. It also helps that Julie is extremely personable and funny along with being spiritual – my type of gal!

From a purely “results” standpoint, she was the first person to recommend I eliminate dairy from my diet, which helped clear my skin and also raised my energy levels. Before seeing Julie, I had been battling cystic acne and random face hives for about a year.

Yes, she is expensive, but if you are truly ready to be honest with yourself and commit to a change, it’s worth it. You can tell that she values her clients’ health more than her bottom line; for example, she has graciously engaged in long email conversations with me at no extra charge. 

Am I at my ideal weight? No. But that’s not Julie’s fault. She has helped me understand that this is a lifelong process, a lifelong journey, in a far deeper way than any other book, diet program, or health professional I’ve tried in the past has been able to (and trust me, I’ve tried MANY). Julie is a life saver. 

I have an background in health service and a personal interest in nutrition. I had already been following a specific diet for a few years but after a couple period of extreme stress, my body crashed. I was having GI pain and none of the tricks I knew were fixing them. I was avoiding eating and drinking even water all day at work just to keep the pain down so that I could make it through a work day. My ND and MD were confused on what the exact cause was and while we were trying to figure out what triggered it, Julie came along with trying to get me out of pain and heal from the damage. Her initial diagnosis was spot on and showed I was having major issues with several key bodily system. Together, we came up with a plan to heal the inflammation and within a couple of day I was able to work a full day without pain! Through the process of healing and adding foods back in, she has helped me get back to a point of life without pain. I also feel like I have a tool to go back to in times of stress or after a weekend of too much fun.  I feel so much more in-tune with body and its needs.

A big rave for Julie. I don’t like taking any pills or supplements, I hate the taste and feeling of vitamin taste of my mouth and breathe. When I met Julie for a one-to-one evaluation, I did not have any complaints, but was getting the usual viruses in winter time when someone is sick around me. She recommended a liquid multi-vitamin which is the best ever. It tastes good, it makes you drink more water, which anyone can benefit from (you have to take it with 8 oz of water), and most importantly I have been avoiding viruses the whole Winter season. First my wife got something, the heavy cough one in December, then my colleagues got the one in January that was on the news, I did not. It is really good to know that I am working with a professional who has knowledge not  only form the books, but also from a personal experience. Julie knows her business.

Taking her 8 week course at our workplace (oracle). Not expecting what I was getting into, signed up.

To my surprise, this was one of best courses on nutrition. She goes into depth to various aspects of nutrition, how it affects your body, what food to avoid, what are the safe supplements and why you should take them. She won’t force you into crazy diets, explains alternatives to unhealthy eating habits and automatically you start eating healthy and in process lose weight.

Never felt this healthy since my early 20s.

I have been a nutrition fanatic since what seems like forever! I’ve tried every diet (Paleo, 21-day fix, Keto, low-carb, vegetarian,etc). Nothing seemed to work. Had I not developed trust in Julie by attending a couple of her health seminars, I would never have had the courage to forego well-meaning advice to put my daughter on anti-depressants.  Instead, I’m seeking more effective natural remedies under Julie’s guidance.

I started working with Julie when I had debilitating chronic pain, fatigue, and depression. I had been sick with this chronic “mystery illness” for several years and hadn’t been able to recover, despite seeing a plethora of specialists. Julie’s compassionate nutritional advice was a huge catalyst in my recovery!

Julie saw the potential for recovery in me even when I felt lost and hopeless. Julie encouraged me to keep persevering even when I was feeling discouraged. She guided me to an understanding of how deeply the food that we eat affects our well-being. I used to think I ate well, but it’s clear to me now that a lot of what I was eating (and what we’re taught is healthy) was perpetuating my illness. She was very kind while explaining all of this to me. She was not condescending at all! She was very patient. She answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns and my resistance to adopting this new philosophy. She explained things in a way that I could understand and appreciate.

Julie effectively combines a scientific understanding of nutrition with true compassion to create a sustainable, empowering approach to one’s nutrition and lifestyle. I felt very supported along the way and still often think of the advice that she gave to me while I was working with her. Julie helped me to understand that the path to health is not necessarily linear — there are often “ups” and “downs” in recovery. And that’s okay. Just because you have a flareup, doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to recover!

What’s especially great is that Julie taught me the tools to be a self-sufficient person. I don’t need to rely on anyone else to keep me well because I know how to keep myself well now.

Julie also offered sprinklings of empowering mindset exercises (mostly in the form of positive affirmations) that worked in conjunction with the nutritional advice. At the time, I didn’t understand how powerful mindset and positive affirmations truly are to a person’s recovery and well-being. I now understand! Julie was never pushy about this stuff and only offered what I was interested in pursuing. I imagine that she only gives her clients the amount of info/suggestions on this subject that they’re interested in exploring.

I am happy to say that I am totally healthy now! I would still be sick if I hadn’t worked with Julie and changed my diet. Changing my nutritional regime allowed for a tremendous amount of personal healing and growth. I understand myself and my well-being so much more now.

Julie is a truly gifted facilitator of healing! She is so supportive, kind, and knowledgeable. She lives the advice that she provides and supports her clients as they grow and gain the health that they so desire!

The last few years (post-college) were seriously doing a number on me in a variety of ways. Super early work hours, business travel, and hectic startup life led to what felt akin to a perpetual hangover–yes, crying millennial tears over here (but someone’s gotta pay rent!).

I knew I needed to make some changes to feel better, not gain weight, and cope with my surroundings in a healthy and productive way. I did a quick Yelp search and called Julie immediately. Within minutes she returned my call, and I knew from our brief 15 minute conversation that this person was going to give me pragmatic guidance around how to not feel like crap every day.

Julie gets to the crux of your issues to help you. She doesn’t give you a calorie count and a list of foods to eat. In fact, we never really talked about calories. She suggested lifestyle adjustments to make and helped me shift my mental focus and perspective. She is always there for support in both the good and the bad times. Julie knows what she is doing and is very personable.  My only complaint is that my first two hour visit seem inefficient.  I felt like I was there for a long time without getting a lot done BUT I have been feeling amazing since following her plan so I can’t complain too much.

She is the reason I discovered I was gluten sensitive.  I had been to several doctors who were all clueless.  Will always go to Julie first from now on!

If you are looking for an engaging and inspiring nutritionist for a speaking event, I would highly recommend Julie Scott.  Julie came and spoke to the 7th and 8th grade girls at Hillview Middle School.  It was a great experience for the girls.  Everyone enjoyed the talk and learned a lot about easy ways to take care of their health and body and still have some of the fun foods that they love.

Julie helped me get my life back. It’d been about 8 months of me either being sick, getting over being sick, or fighting off sickness. Julie listened to my problems and prescribed a regiment of supplements that got my body back on track and able to fight off illness.

I’m a skeptic – especially about all things labeled as “alternative” remedies and the like. Of course, I’ve always known that it is important to eat well but I didn’t fully appreciate just how critical nutrition is to health. Not until I met Julie did I finally realize that nutrition lies at the core of healing.

When I went to Julie I needed to lose some weight and had a horrible skin rash that wouldn’t go away, no matter what I did. Julie’s nutrition program helped me finally lose those last few pounds that I had been struggling burn off, and, much to my surprise, got rid of that persistent, irritating skin rash. But more importantly, working with Julie gave me surprising insight into my health that has altered how I treat my body. I went to see her expecting that little would change for me, but figure it was worth a try. Julie helped me with my young child who was getting sick a lot. I wanted to know if there were any safe and natural solutions that would help. I went to see Julie because after only 2 months at my new job I had already gained a noticeable amount of weight, and I didn’t want the trend to continue.  Not only did Julie get me back on track, but she also transformed my relationship with food and my relationship with myself.  

Working with her changed the way I think about what I eat.  I no longer have any feelings of guilt or regret associated with eating, I only feel joy when eating the foods I want to eat.  Now I’m in complete control of my weight.  I got to my target weight quickly and easily, and I’m confident that I can stay there.

I’m so glad I contacted Julie. I’ve been struggling with IBS and acid reflux issues for a few years and they had only seemed to getting worse with time. Within 2 months of working with Julie on a specialized and easy to follow diet I have made major progress. I’ve been able to reduce my medication and am no longer afraid to eat.
